WHAT IS SINGLE ORIGIN?

Single origin means that all of the beans used for brewing a coffee can be traced back to the same exact farm. Coffee produced in these micro-lots is more environmentally sustainable and tastes better due to the uniform flavor profile and intense attention to detail.

Why Single Origin?

Sustainability

Single origin coffees are grown in smaller batches which promotes sustainable growing practices. Unlike mega-corporate coffee supply chains, the farmers of our micro-lots are invested in the long term health of their local environments.

Local Roasters

We source our single origin beans and grounds from top small-scale roasters all across the nation. These roasters place a premium on the gourmet taste and overall experience for the consumer - resulting in some of the best coffee you can find.

Highest Quality

Single origin coffee is coffee at its purest form. Without the ability to convert or mask its taste in a blend, Single origin coffee derives its flavor primarily from the location and climate where the beans were grown.

"I love trying all the single origin coffees. What a revelation! TRY THESE COFFEES!"

- Wendy B.

"Highly professional sourcing and roasting, strong quality consistency, and a socially conscious business model."

- Jacob S.

"Delicious coffee delivered to my door the day after it was roasted."

- Ruth L.

Tumba is an exceptional washing station we visited for the first time in 2017 while shepherding a group of customers and employees around Rwanda. We were there building some projects for women producers in another area of the country, and after the first week I stayed behind with a few people to visit some additional washing stations and producers in Rulindo District.

The current owner, Venuste Mugraneza, was a teacher in the nearby village that Tumba is named after. Well respected and liked by his community, he took over Tumba and over the last five plus years he has implemented many different incentives for the growers he works with. Depending on the quality of the cherries they deliver he offers a range of incentives including an increase in price, health care, subsidies for farm equipment and supplies, and a profit share
